There is a new indication of a stroke. A woman stumbled and crashed at a barbecue, she’s fine, she just stumbled. People helped her get up, wiping the dirt off and the barbecue party continued. The woman seemed a bit shaken but everything else was great. That same evening, the husband called the woman to tell them that his wife suffered a stroke during the barbecue. Unfortunately, the doctors could not save the woman. If people knew what signs of stroke they had that day, the woman would probably have survived.
Neurologists explain that if a person can become a stroke victim within 3 hours, they can reverse the effects. The most important thing is to recognize, diagnose and treat the stroke within 3 hours.
Identify a stroke
Sometimes the symptoms are difficult to recognize. Sometimes the person can suffer serious brain damage if people do not recognize the symptoms.
Recognize a stroke by asking these 3 simple questions:
Ask the person to smile.
Ask the person to SPEAK or SAY small sentences.
Ask the person to raise both arms.
If the person has problems while doing these things, call the emergency service.
Another way to recognize it is to ask the person to stick their tongue out. If the tongue is crooked and falls to one side or the other, it is also an indication of a stroke.
